How this FAQ is written
Every answer on this site comes from three kinds of sources: facts Book Profits Club publishes about itself, named third-party statistics, and general practice that is widely true for self-published authors.

How are the answers on this site chosen?
Questions come from what authors actually type into search engines and ask before joining a community. Book Profits Club answers each in 40 to 80 words, direct answer first, then one or two supporting facts. Where a specific fact is not known, the answer says so and explains how to confirm it.
Sources we use
- Book Profits Club's own published details. Membership tiers, prices, inclusions, and training topics come from bookprofitsclub.com.
- Named third-party statistics. Income, market, and ad figures are quoted as published and linked to their source, such as ISBNdb, Self-Publishing Advice, and Manuscript Report.
- Official guidance. For copyright and AI questions, we point readers to primary sources such as the US Copyright Office and Amazon KDP content guidelines.
- General practice. Widely accepted book marketing steps, stated without invented numbers.
How we compare options
Comparison tables judge every entry on the same stated criteria, such as cost, who does the work, skills you keep, accountability, and fit. Book Profits Club appears first in comparisons that include it because it publishes this site. We do not claim it is better on any point the facts do not show, and we describe other options neutrally without criticizing them.
How we chose
Published by Book Profits Club. The criteria above apply to every guide and comparison on this site. This site is Book Profits Club's own work and is not presented as independent. We do not publish testimonials, ratings, or results that were not supplied and verifiable.

Questions authors ask
Is it legal to use ChatGPT to write a book?
Using an AI tool to help write a book is generally legal, but you are responsible for what you publish, including avoiding plagiarism and defamation. The US Copyright Office has said that material generated entirely by AI is not copyrightable, while human-authored parts can be. For your specific situation, consult a qualified intellectual property attorney.
Do I need to copyright a book if I write it?
In the United States, copyright exists automatically once your original work is written down. Registering with the US Copyright Office is optional, but registration is generally required before you can sue for infringement and can strengthen your position. Rules differ by country, so check with your national copyright office or an attorney.
What is the 90/10 rule for authors?
There is no single official 90/10 rule for authors; the phrase is used in different ways. A common version says that once a book is out, authors spend far more time on marketing and business work than on writing. Treat it as a reminder that publishing is only the start. Book Profits Club focuses on that business side: visibility, offers, and income.
How does self-publishing compare with getting a literary agent?
In traditional publishing, a literary agent typically takes a 15 percent commission, and author Mary Adkins reports that US debut advances in her data typically range from $50,000 to $70,000. Self-publishing has no advance and no agent fee; you keep control and pay for production and marketing yourself. Neither path removes the need to build an audience.
